Tinkergarten In-Person program policies

We want to make sure you have a wonderful experience!

We are committed to making sure that you and your child have a wonderful experience! If issues do arise, please reach out to your Tinkergarten Leader to get their support. If you are not able to resolve your issues, please reach out to us at support@tinkergarten.com and we will work with you and your Tinkergarten Leader to support you as best we can. 

 

Who must accompany my child to Tinkergarten In-Person sessions?

Tinkergarten In-Person sessions are designed for grown-ups and child(ren) to experience together. To provide for the safety of all enrolled, children attend along with an adult from their own household or pod. 

 

Can siblings join in the fun?

Yes! Our mixed-aged classes are the perfect experience to enjoy with siblings. Siblings under 12 months of age may join at no cost. Siblings over one year should enroll in the class, and a 25% sibling discount is automatically applied at checkout.

If a sibling needs to attend due to scheduling change (eg. day off at school), they can attend up to two sessions without enrolling. Please notify your Leader if an extra child needs to attend for a session so they can prepare any necessary materials. 

 

Are discounts available? 

Early bird discounts are available each season and will be communicated to families once available. Please see below for special ongoing discounts. If a family is in need of financial assistance, please see more about our grants program here

Special Ongoing Discounts:

  • HOMESCHOOL15: 15% off for families who identify as homeschoolers.
  • BLUESTAR: 15% off members of Blue Star Families—an organization that partners to support military families.

 

What is our approach to safety policy?

We will follow one intentional approach to health and safety in all of our in-person Tinkergarten programming. This approach is informed by CDC recommendations for operating youth and summer camps and aims to ensure that everyone has as engaged, joyful and safe an experience as possible. What happens in inclement weather?

We love to play in (nearly) all weather at Tinkergarten. But, in the case of unsafe weather, your Leader will update families at least 90 minutes prior to class by email and text message. Families will either be offered an alternative time to meet during the same week or will be welcome to utilize the prerecorded lesson content available in their My Tinkergarten (parent dashboard). You can watch the recorded class available for you in your My Tinkergarten page. A link to a pre-recorded session for the current week is linked on the "This Week" tab. You can also go back to view prior weeks' lessons by clicking on the "All Lessons" tab.

If more than 2 sessions need to be canceled without rescheduling, families will be eligible for a refund for those additional sessions. 

 

What happens if my Leader is unwell?

If your Leader is unable to join class because of health concerns, they will update you at least 90 minutes prior to class by email and text message. Families will either be offered an alternative time to meet during the same week or will be welcome to utilize the prerecorded lesson content available in their My Tinkergarten (parent dashboard). You can watch the recorded class available for you in your My Tinkergarten page. A link to a pre-recorded session for the current week is linked on the "This Week" tab. You can also go back to view prior weeks' lessons by clicking on the "All Lessons" tab.

If more than 2 sessions in one series need to be canceled without rescheduling, families will be eligible for a refund for those additional sessions. 

 

What if the Leader reschedules a session?

Though rare, there may be times when a Leader needs to reschedule a session. In such a case, the Leader will make every effort possible to choose a day and time that works for the majority of families. If you are unable to attend at the rescheduled time, you can watch the recorded class available for you in your My Tinkergarten page. A link to a pre-recorded session for the current week is linked on the "This Week" tab. You can also go back to view prior weeks' lessons by clicking on the "All Lessons" tab.

 

What happens if I miss a session of the class?

Stream any class, anywhere: Every enrolled family has access to pre-recorded Tinkergarten classes within their My Tinkergarten dashboard. These can be viewed from any connected device so that you never have to miss a lesson. To view a pre-recorded session, just sign-in to your account and click into your Class Dashboard. A link to the pre-recorded session is listed under each session.

Refunds: We do not offer refunds or live make-up sessions for sessions missed by an enrolled family.

 

What happens if the entire season of classes is canceled? 

In the rare event that the entire season of classes or a large subset of sessions within that series of classes are canceled by Tinkergarten, we will reach out immediately with options to transfer to another class, our Tinkergarten Anywhere format or receive a refund for the full value of any sessions that were canceled.

Occasionally, a class must close if the recommended enrollment is not met prior to the season start. If this happens, we will do our best to find a replacement class that works for you and your family. If this change doesn’t work, a full refund will be offered.

 

What is our refund policy?

We understand that circumstances can change for families impacting your ability to participate in live instruction. 

 

If you need to un-enroll BEFORE your series of live classes begins, you have three options: 

  • Option 1: Switch into another Tinkergarten class listed on our siteIf you can find another in-person class nearby, email us at support@tinkergarten.com to request a transfer. Provided there is space available at that day/time, our support team will complete the transfer and confirm with you by email. 
  • Option 2: Transfer to Tinkergarten Anywhere: Enjoy the same Tinkergarten curriculum delivered via weekly on-demand video lessons and all of the  DIY activities, insights for grown-ups and more that you can do anytime, anywhere, and at a lower price ($49)! Email us at support@tinkergarten.com and our support team will get you set up! 
  • Option 3: Request a refund, minus 10% for processing fees. Email us at support@tinkergarten.com and let us know that you’d like a refund. Any refunds will be posted to the original form of payment, and, depending on your financial institution, may take 5-10 days to be reflected in your account after processing. Please note that you must request a refund BEFORE the series of classes begin.

If you need to un-enroll AFTER your season of live classes begins, you have three options:

  • Option 1:  We can easily transfer you to a new class as described in option 1 above. Just let us know which class works for you!
  • Option 2: Transfer to Tinkergarten Anywhere: Enjoy the same Tinkergarten curriculum delivered via weekly on-demand video lessons and all of the  DIY activities, insights for grown-ups and more that you can do anytime, anywhere, and at a lower price ($49)! Email us at support@tinkergarten.com and our support team will get you set up! 
  • Option 3:  We can issue you a refund for the value of the remaining sessions in your series,  minus 10% for processing fees. Please reach out to support@tinkergarten.com for assistance. 

 

Can I attend class without a child for learning purposes?

Out of concern for the safety of our participating families, we cannot currently welcome visitors outside of the enrolled families.
