Getting Started with your Tinkergarten Circle Time Class

We are so excited that your family will be joining us for Tinkergarten Circle Time! To get all set up for your first class, follow these 6 simple steps:

One day before your class:

1. Download Zoom

All Tinkergarten Online Circle Time sessions take place on the video platform Zoom. Once you have downloaded the free zoom app, you can join class from anywhere you have an internet connection on a computer or device with a microphone and webcam. You can review system requirements for using the zoom platform here

2. Watch this quick tutorial to learn more about how we use Zoom features during class:

3. Test Zoom and Practice.

Join a test meeting with your child to make sure Zoom is working properly on your device.

Practice the following:

  • Turn off / turn on microphone
  • Turn off / turn on video

Adults are welcome to participate alongside their children during sessions! If you do plan to step away during class, we recommend that your child practices using the mute and video functions.

4. Read this article with tips for supporting your child's experience in Tinkergarten Circle Time.

Five Minutes Before Class Starts:

5. Gather your materials for Circle Time.

Each week, children will be invited to bring an item to share with the group. At the end of each session, your Leader will let you know what materials to have ready for the next session. We’ll also send an email the day before with a reminder about which household items to have on hand.

6. Go to your Tinkergarten Circle Time class.

Before the first session, we’ll email you a zoom link to connect to your particular class. Click on the link in the email to join. If you see a message that says "Please wait for the host to start the meeting" - wait a few moments! Your Leader will arrive soon!

That's it! You're ready to start Tinkergarten Circle Time!

If you experience tech issues:

If you have questions, please refer to our troubleshooting tips here or head over to Zoom’s comprehensive help center. Unfortunately, our team is not equipped to provide technical support.

A note on safety:

The safety of our community is a top priority. We recommend that all participants leave their camera on so that Leaders and children can interact fully. For the safety of participants, our online sessions will not be recorded by the Leader and we require that families do not record or photograph the zoom sessions.
